Collections Development Plan
As an Accredited museum, the Ken Hawley Collection Trust is pleased to make available its Collections Development Plan (CDP). All Accredited museums have such plans and all text which appears in bold is common to all these museums. The content is regularly reviewed by the governing body.
The CDP outlines how the collections have come to be assembled and how we intend to look after them for the benefit of the public and our users. It outlines the various types of collections that we currently hold and their significance, and further outlines what we will collect in the future.
As part of a sound collections management strategy, it also outlines areas of the collection that will be reviewed for future retention or disposal. This is done with reference to current ethical guidelines produced by the Museums Association which covers all Accredited museums, the staff that work in them (paid or voluntary) and their governing bodies.
